Carmel Wright,
Bsc (Hons) Physio, MISCP
Carmel Wright is a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapistsand has 25 years experience specializing in the area of early intervention with children. Carmel trained as a Physiotherapist at Trinity College,Dublin, graduating with a BSc (Hons) degree in physiotherapy in 1989. She worked in the UK for 4 years gaining experience in neurology and rehabilitation. She completed the NDT/Bobath course in 1997 and the Advanced Paediatric Bobath/NDT course in gait analysis in 2011. Carmel has trained in hydrotherapy completing further training with a further course in Aquatic Therapy in Paediatric Neurological Dysfunction in 2017. She is a trained Manual Handling Instructor and Visual Display Unit Assessor.
Carmel is passionate about the importance of early intervention in
preventing disability and In minimizing the adverse physical effects of
disability. She has recently upskilled by completing an Introductory MAES therapy course “ A Better understanding of children with Cerebral Palsy and principles to improve their coordination” so as to enhance her work in early intervention.
Paediatrics
A Chartered Physiotherapist in Paediatrics is concerned with all aspects of physiotherapy relating to the needs, care and well-being of the developing child and his/her family.
We can provide assessment , intervention, treatment and advice to children with physical or intellectual disability eg: Cerebral Palsy, Dyspraxia, Developmental Delay, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Down Syndrome, Learning Disability, Congenital Syndromes.
We can provide comprehensive home exercise programmes (incorporating stretching and strengthening), education and advice to enable your child to be physically independent and fit.
We can give advice and support to assist your child to get involved in community activities and sports.
We can support a baby’s development by providing advice and instruction on play, positioning and normal development.
